NRN Global Energy Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NRN Global Ventures Limited, and Sanima Hydro & Engineering Pvt. Ltd. have signed an agreement to carry out the Feasibility Study for the 4.81 MW Upper Kailash Khola Hydropower Project.

The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone in the project’s development process. The feasibility study will establish the technical, environmental, and financial foundation required for the successful implementation of the project.

The proposed run-of-river (RoR) hydropower project is located on the Kailash Khola in Achham District, Sudurpashchim Province, with an installed capacity of 4.81 MW. The project has a catchment area of 141.56 square kilometers, a design discharge of 5.27 cubic meters per second, a headrace pipeline length of 3,120 meters, and a penstock pipeline length of 500 meters.

Once developed, the project is expected to make a meaningful contribution to Nepal’s clean and renewable energy generation, supporting the country’s long-term energy development goals.

The feasibility study will encompass a comprehensive range of technical and environmental assessments, including:

  • Hydrological studies
  • Geological investigations
  • Topographical surveys
  • Civil and electro-mechanical design
  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
  • Economic and financial analysis

The study report will provide the detailed engineering design, regulatory recommendations, financial evaluation, and implementation framework necessary to advance the project toward construction.

NRN Global Energy Pvt. Ltd. expressed confidence that, with the support of experienced consulting partners, the project will be developed in accordance with the highest technical and engineering standards.

Upon completion, the Upper Kailash Khola Hydropower Project is expected to supply clean electricity to Nepal’s national transmission system, strengthen the country’s energy security, create local employment opportunities, promote infrastructure development, and contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the region.
