The Upper Kailash Khola Hydropower Project is a 4.81 MW run-of-river scheme in Achham District, Sudurpashchim Province, utilizing water from the Kailash Khola river to generate clean energy. With a catchment area of 141.56 km² and a design discharge of 5.27 m³/s, the project includes a broad-crested weir, a 3.12 km headrace pipe, and a 500 m penstock, leading to a surface powerhouse with two 2.405 MW Francis turbines. Operating at a net head of 104.5 m, it produces an estimated 29.91 GWh annually, supporting Nepal’s sustainable hydropower development.
The Kailash Khola Cascade Hydropower Project is a 4.65 MW run-of-river scheme in Achham District, Sudurpaschim Province, using water from the Kailash Khola River. With a gross head of 105 m and design discharge of 5.27 m³/s, it features a 3,060 m headrace pipe, 300 m penstock, and a surface powerhouse with two 2.325 MW Francis turbines. The project is expected to generate 30.73 GWh annually and includes supporting infrastructure such as a 3 km access road and an 11 km, 33 kV transmission line connected to the Budhiganga switchyard.
